Codes indicating a diagnosis of HIV
Methodology
Read v2 codes from previous work were combined with relevant QoF codes and SNOMED terms, identified from the NHS Digital SNOMED browser. The combined codes were translated to Read CTV 3 and reviewed by team members with clinical and epidemiological expertise. Following early descriptive analyses, three codes (XaFuN, XaFuO and 43CZ.) were removed from the list as these appeared to represent HIV testing (notably in large numbers of young women, likely at pregnancy), rather than HIV positive status.
